The Voice

Why This Matters

The AI evaluator scores clarity independently of content — a well-built speech delivered in a flat, rushed monotone still reads as unclear on the page, because pacing shows up in sentence rhythm, not just sound. This week is about writing sentences built to be spoken, not read silently.

This Week's Exercise

  1. Read your current draft out loud, and mark every sentence where you run out of breath before the period.
  2. Break those sentences in two. Short sentences carry weight; long ones bury it.
  3. Find one place where you can repeat a key word or phrase on purpose — repetition, used deliberately, is a rhythm tool, not a mistake.
  4. Time yourself reading the whole draft aloud. If it runs long or short against your 2-minute target, cut or add content — don't just talk faster or slower.
Coach's Note — Demosthenes: Demosthenes practiced speaking with pebbles in his mouth against the roar of the sea, until his voice could carry over anything. You won't need pebbles — but you do need to hear your own words out loud before anyone else does.
