Speaking for Revenue

Why This Matters

A Level 3 credential signals professional-grade speaking ability — which means some of what you write from here forward may be building your own reputation and opportunities, not just clearing a gate. This week reframes your speech as a professional asset.

This Week's Exercise

  1. Write one sentence describing what you want a listener to think of you, specifically, after hearing this speech — not just what you want them to think about the topic.
  2. Check whether your speech actually demonstrates the expertise you want to be known for, or just talks about the topic in general terms. Specificity signals real expertise; generality doesn't.
  3. Add one detail that only someone with real, lived experience in this area would know to include — that's what separates a credible professional voice from a well-researched one.
  4. Consider how this speech could be repurposed — a talk, a written piece, a portfolio sample — and note whether it's currently built to survive outside this one gate submission.
Coach's Note — Dale Carnegie: People rarely buy the pitch. They buy the person who delivered it with genuine, demonstrated competence. Let your expertise show through specifics, not through claims of expertise.
